Proletariat is a tiny bar appropriately tucked away on St. Mark's for beer lovers to discover, as their slogan promises, "rare, new, and unusual beers." Tucked away on the first floor of a quaint Gramercy townhouse is one of the best coffee shops in NYC: 71 Irving. They serve delicious brew from Irving Farms in addition to tasty treats like muffins, bagels, sandwiches, and more (their tuna sandwich on whole grain bread is a must try!). They have about 20 seats inside and a few seats outside.

This new authentic Italian pizzeria in the East Village has three kinds of pizza ovens, and cooks three types of pies: Pizza Italiana Classica piesare cooked in a wood-fired oven, and boast an extra crispy crust; Napoletana is your traditional Neapolitan pizza; andPizza in Pala is made with double-cooked dough, giving it a similar texture to ciabatta bread. Many ingredients are imported from Italy (flour, yeast), and the rest they source at the local Greenmarket in Union Square. Bonus: they have a pizza school! [menu]
