Why
Are you waking up every morning with a major jonesing for chocolate? Battling crazy cravings in the wee hours? Bummed because last year’s bikini is too tight? If you answered yes to any of these questions, run, don’t walk, to see Andrea Moss, a Certified Health and Nutrition Counselor accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. From her serene offices in Park Slope and Union Square, Moss works with her clients to help them reach their ideal weight, increase their energy, reduce stress, and feel confident about what to eat. It is her mission to empower and inspire her clients to create extraordinary lives for themselves by teaching them to build their own “intuition about nutrition.”

Moss is not a believer in diets per se. But she is serious about what she puts into her mouth and thinks you should be too. She subscribes to the idea of bio-individuality, which means that each person has her or his own food and lifestyle needs. “When the experts say, ‘dairy is good for you’ or ‘fat is unhealthy,’ it doesn’t apply to everyone,” she explains. “One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, personal preferences, and background. Instead of prescribing one fix for all people, I use a personalized, holistic approach that is based on your needs.”

Could it be any better? Moss offers her twice-monthly sessions in three-month programs and six-month programs. You can expect a thorough questionnaire about what you’re eating now and what your goals for the future are. Then she’ll tailor a plan just for you that includes recommendations about specific foods, supplements, books, strategies and more.
