Oddball king John Waters discusses his latest book, Role Models, at Paula Cooper Gallery

The counterculture icon kicks off his nationwide book tour with a stop at this Chelsea gallery on Wed 4/27 at 7pm, where he'll discuss his latest book, Role Models (which came out in summer 2010). While the book is primarily autobiographical, Waters also writes about oddballs who have personally inspired him, from the lunatic St. Catherine of Siena to a marine pornographer.

John Waters' memoir Role Models is mostly autobiography, but he also takes time to explore notorious, outrageous figures who have inspired his anti-tastemaker sensibilities. On that list are a lesbian stripper, a Baltimore barkeep, the insane Saint Catherine of Siena, a marine pornographer, among other quirky fringe figures.
