Big Fall Trends for the Little Ones
by Allison O’Neill, owner of Tribeca kid’s boutique Bundle
Fall is just around the corner and at Bundle we have the hottest trends for the stylin n’ profilin’ little ones in your life. Check out my favorites below!
We’re channeling Pocahontas with ponchos in the starring role of this very cute look. They’re cuddly, cozy, and effortlessly stylish. Bonus feature: children can wear this item much longer than traditional tops, as ponchos are ‘sans sleeves’ unlike sweaters and other toppers. My favorite ponchos are by Acoustic (far right) and Tea Collection (near right). Acoustic’s chunky cotton version with its snuggly button-up funnel neck can be worn down, as shown, or up, when a little extra warmth is in order (available at Bundle in September, $73). Tea’s poncho is a fine-knit woven, with beautiful Mexican-inspired detailing and a cozy hood (available at Bundle, $79).
2) Color Your World With Shades of Plum
Not the kind we eat yet equally delicious in rich, regal shades of purples and reds that look terrific on every child’s skin, particularly with lighter tones. I saw a multitude of adorable pieces in this versatile color from a slew of designers and couldn’t resist… and neither will you! Especially when turned out in textures like corduroy and chunky cotton – yum! I am totally in love with this plum-colored sweater coat from Siaomimi (far left), with its oversized, vintage-inspired button closure. This versatile piece works equally well with jeggings and a tee, or paired with a pretty party dress (available at Bundle, $89). I’m also wild about Velvet & Tweed’s Corduroy Dot Dress (near left), a precious plum look for fall, as shown here with ivory knit tights and tan suede booties and easily dressed up for holiday by swapping out the booties for a pair of patent leather Mary Janes.
3) Make an Investment
Vests are a key item in any child’s wardrobe, especially for the cooler transitional months when they’re not quite ready for a coat yet but will be chilly in just a sweater. Plus, vests easily transform a shirt and pants into an outfit, and tons of my favorite designers are offering this extremely versatile item for fall. Both of my favorite vests are by Kapital K, a super cool line for boys – think Levi McConaughey and Mason Kardashian. The first is a retro puffer vest, which hardly needs explaining; most dads have a similar one already hanging in their closets (available at Bundle now, $62). The second is a standout featuring herringbone and pocket details (left), plus a faux Sherpa hood (now available at Bundle, $64).
4) Faux-dorable
When women wear faux fur, it’s so easy to cross the line from to-die-for to tacky. On little girls, however, it’s just plain adorable. I especially love the look in vests and shrugs, as shown here with my selections from Tea Collection and Adore le Vie (left). Tea’s Fantástico Furry Vest (available at Bundle in September, $89) in rich brown is absolutely beautiful and literally can be worn with anything. Adore le Vie’s shrug (also available in September, $79) is reversible with an elegant, cream-colored fur on one side, and black and white Fair Isle pattern on the reverse. Another bonus… a spill-crisis on the white fur can be quickly remedied by reversing the jacket.
